Nobody ever PR'd because they stretched — but plenty of lifters have stalled because they didn't. Tight hips cut squats short, stiff ankles tip them forward, and locked-up shoulders turn every press into a grind. Mobility is maintenance, and maintenance compounds.
The minimum effective dose
Two ten-minute sessions a week beat one heroic hour. Pick one lower-body move (couch stretch or 90/90s), one upper-body move (doorway pec stretch or thoracic opener) and one full-body flow (world's greatest stretch). Two rounds, nasal breathing, done.
Stretch warm, mobilize after
Save static holds for after training; long holds before heavy sets temporarily dull power output. Warm up with movement — leg swings, arm circles, empty-bar complexes — and stretch while you are warm and done.
“Treat mobility like brushing your teeth: brief, boring, non-negotiable — and obvious when skipped.”
— Daniel Osei, Conditioning Coach
